UPDATE FROM KENYA, January 25:
I will be the guest chef at Lake Nakuru Lodge this weekend. It is the second most poplar restaurant in Africa after Krugar Park in SA. You can check them out. They really dig O&S and are ready to partner with us. I will also be hosting a few dinners in the surrounding towns and will keep everyone in the loop. I have been on local TV, K24, two radio stations and have done a newspaper article slated to appear soon. I have visited 18 different restaurants and 15 local farmers. I also met the chairperson of parliament's Agricultural and Livestock Committee to discuss issues related to food and GMO. Lots of stories upon return.
Greetings Dear Friends,
Happy New Year. I will be heading to Kenya for a month of work around food, sustainability and culture. This will be the first time I will be visiting my home country as a chef, making it also the first time ORGANICS & SOUNDS will be meeting its fans that it has built through radio and Facebook. While in Kenya, I will be on the local radio station that has a reach of up to six million people; in other times I will be visiting local farmers and exchange knowledge about different matters; and cooking at different places the rest of the time.
I will also be taking organics seeds, a camera and a notebook as I share what I have learned in the Triangle. I also hope to learn a lot from folk wisdom about food I grew up around but never really took time to understand.
When I return, we will have a dinner on Feb. 26th hosted by the Abundance Foundation. UPDATE: see photos from this event!
Happy new year again and have a wonderful day.
